How Embarassing!

So it's only my fourth post and I'm going to bare my soul and air my dirty little secret....my garage! It's embarrasing really but it's what I did all day yesterday...clean, organize, purge...well not too much purging as I still think most of my unfinished items have great potential and now that I will be able to find my way to them I will probably accomplish much more in the day!

Also I've had quite a few people call me since Fieldstone Vintage Market and ask if you can come by and see what I have available...hahhahaha
Sure - come on over and bring a shovel or a rake- no wait don't - I'll probably try and buy it off of you and make something out of it...that just reminded me of something I saw on Pinterest last night!
Adorable! (so sorry I've lost the info on who did this mirror - let me know if it's you)

First of all - you need to know that we just moved into this house this past summer so this isn't years of accumulating - only a few months...busy months.

Thats a lame excuse I know but it's all I could come up with. My very wonderful son and his lovely girlfriend very generously came over to help. Their cheerful attitudes and hard work made the task alot more pleasant (and my $200. made them alot more understanding!)

Now that's better! Now I'm starting to see why I dragged these items home in the first place!

The good news is you can look forward to alot of beautiful transformation pictures very soon.
Does anyone else out there have this problem? Please tell me I'm not the only one! Come on share!

Annie Sloan and Charlie

As a recent empty-nester I am alone much of the day with my creative thoughts and my indecision...that's where Charlie comes in. Someone has to give an opinion on color etc.
You can't tell from this picture but he is actually looking right at a can of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Provence as well as a shiny black stain that he feels would look wonderful on the top.
That Charlie is a smart dog! If you haven't tried Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and you live in the Lower Mainland of BC, you NEED to go see Carrie at The Passionate Home in Langley!
She is the stockist for this area and is super friendly and helpful!

Well, talking to the dog about design decisions is cheaper than hiring an assistant...although I do have to clean up his "mess"...hmmm

Some paint remover and a good sanding on top only because the drawers don't need to be sanded or primed - because thats the beauty of this paint!
(Charlie doesn't help with this part as it gets in his fur).

A coat of Annie Sloan's Paris Grey went on the drawers so it could peak through the distressed areas to add dimension.

Then a coat and a half of Provence and I'm starting to see the finished look taking place!
Awe much better - now we're getting closer!
I finished the top with my new favorite line of stain - called Samon and a clear top coat for protection to give it a nice shine.

Charlie and I took the dresser to the Fieldstone Vintage Market!

I LOVE VINTAGE MARKETS!

For years I've been dragging home "junk" and upcycling it into other things...most of my girl friends make hoarding jokes and my own mother even makes jokes about my "mental illness pile" when she refers to the contents of my garage (I'll post pics of that later)

However the same girlfriends and yes even my mom slowly started to show up when these little projects of mine were complete and offer to buy them! So...my passion for rusty, broken, warped, old things was validated! I decided to jump into this wonderful world of vintage, upcycling, diy, recycling, collecting etc with both feet and home sweet nest was born!

The girls at birch and bird were kind enough to include me in their latest vintage show yesterday - Fieldstone Vintage Market and it was just the greatest experience! I loved every minute of it (except for the part at the end where my boots were filled with my own blood...but anyway on to the prettier parts of the day! I had the best time, met so many great people and got alot of great feedback on my products -which was wonderful since I'm a newbie!

Here are a few photos of my first booth although I neglected to get any good shots until things started to sell and my booth started to look empty! It was sooo busy first thing in the morning that I never thought to grab my camera until people started hauling away their purchases.

Fieldstone Vintage Market

Welcome to my very first official post! I'm so excited to announce that I'm one of the vendors at the Fieldstone Vintage Market in Abbotsford BC this Saturday September 24th.
As soon as the market is over, and I have caught up on my sleep I'll be sharing my adventures in this crazy new venture of mine! From spilled paint on the lawn to the wonderful days where my projects actually turned out how I had envisioned them.
See you at the market!
